May Fuel Price Increase

Though fuel prices are set to increase on Wednesday 3rd May, the strengthening rand and softer international oil prices have lowered the anticipated fuel price increase. The predicted price of petrol in April by the Automobile Association was 55 cents litre but will now be 49 cents litre, while diesel will increase by 33 per litre.

MIBCO Releases the New Minimum Wage Rates

Ever wondered how much forecourt attendants(petrol attendants) in South Africa earn? According to a report by the South African Petroleum Industry Association, the majority of petrol attendants are young men with an average age of 27 earning a minimum wage of between R1 126.35 - R1 126.35 per week depending on the area. 

The Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO) released the new prescribed minimum wage rates and guaranteed wage increases for the period ending 31 August 2017. 

The same circular indicates the minimum wage for parking garage attendants (car guards) of R657.45 per week.
